Hello !

After some hollidays, Albert Magnus will come back with many activities.

Our first official group meeting will be organized wednesday 24th of august at 19:00, just after the World Youth Day in Madrid (16-21 of august).

This first meeting aims at developing new activities and ideas for the months to come. For example, surprises for our big welcome dinner/party will be discussed.

In the meantime, enjoy our new pannel !

Hike to Geitfjellet

On Saturday the 2nd of October we went hiking to Geitfjellet in Bymarka. We walked from St. Olav Church to Våttakammen and then to Geitfjellet. Here you can find some pictures from the beautiful hike.

Bible Group

Finally we will continue with the Bible Study from last semester:

The Bible is not addressed only to long-dead people in a faraway land. It is addressed to each of us in our own unique situations. When we read, we need to understand what the text says and how the faithful have understood its meaning in the past. In light of this understanding, we then ask: What is God saying to me? (of Mary Elizabeth Sperry)

We meet for Mass at 6.30 PM on Wednesday 29th of September. Afterwards we will have a Bible study. For this Bible Group we read and focus on the gospel of the day: John 1,47-51. Last meeting – vesper and BBQ

We ended the first semester of 2010 with vesper and BBQ. It was a sunny day, even if it was a bit cold. Good food and nice company!

A short pilgrimage from Kongsvold to Oppdal

We were a group from the student group that walked on “Pilegrimsleden” (Pilgrim road) from Kongsvold to Oppdal the first weekend of June. Here you can read more about the short pilgrimage we had.

Retreat 19.-21.February

The Cistercian sisters of Tautra are offering us a retreat, 19-21st of February. They will give us lectures in English, and we are welcome to take part of their daily prayers and Mass. The price, 400kr, includes sleeping in the guest house and all meals. To read more about Tautra and the Sisters, visit http://www.tautra.no

The sisters will give you their bank account details. You pay 200kr on signup and 200kr on arrival. Remember that there is only room for a limited number of participants, so if you want to go - sign up as soon as possible.

Italian dinner

On Wednesday 30th of September the Student Group had an Italian evening. Andrea, Giovanni B and Giovanni P made dinner for us. We are happy that 21 people showed up! Can I remember all the countries represented? I’ll try: South-Korea, Spain, Philippines, Vietnam, Italy, Singapore, Indonesia and Norway.

We also welcome the new faces; Angelica, David, Gabrielle, Kim, Park, Amaya and Juan. Hope to see you again!=)

The Italian guys served bruschetta, pasta and tiramisu. It was delicious!

Don’t Be Afraid

This is for you who are considering to be the next chairman or vice-chairman of the catholic student group in Trondheim, but are afraid that it will be too difficult, and that you may fail in your task. How do we measure failure or success? For me, success is measured by the number of people who come to the meetings. The next question is then, how many people, besides you, have to come to the meetings regularly to consider the group a success? The answer is one. Yes, one. As long as there is at least one person besides yourself at the meetings, then you have succeeded.

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20).

This is my personal answer. This verse helped me when I was the chairman two years ago. It made me feel less afraid that the group would be a failure, and it made the tasks of a chairman more enjoyable. It made me focus on the things we did, the praying, the singing, the time we had together, instead of how many we were. It made me think that if 2 or 3 people gathered, then it was already a success, and anything more than that was a bonus, a blessing.

Whoever you are, future-chairman, if you feel that the task is too difficult, then I hope that this little verse will help you too.
