New Board
It is a great pleasure for me to announce the formation of our new board for this new semester. First let’s thank Pia and Karolina for their wonderful job for us and the Church.
Now the positions of treasurer, vice-chairman, and chairman are attributed respectively to Bronislav, Giovanni and Alexandre. By the way, you all could be involved in our activities. Just come and turn things into action
Bible Group
Yesterday, 3rd of November, Dom Albert (our new parish priest) joined us in our Bible reflection. It was very educative and interesting. At the same time nice to get to know our parish priest better, and hopefully nice for him to get to know us!
In total we were 10 people from 7 different countries; Norway, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Belgium, South Korea and Czech. We read and talked about gospel of John 14, 1-6:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where (I) am going you know the way.” Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Hike to Geitfjellet
On Saturday the 2nd of October we went hiking to Geitfjellet in Bymarka. We walked from St. Olav Church to Våttakammen and then to Geitfjellet. Here you can find some pictures from the beautiful hike.
Bible Group
Finally we will continue with the Bible Study from last semester:
The Bible is not addressed only to long-dead people in a faraway land. It is addressed to each of us in our own unique situations. When we read, we need to understand what the text says and how the faithful have understood its meaning in the past. In light of this understanding, we then ask: What is God saying to me? (of Mary Elizabeth Sperry)
We meet for Mass at 6.30 PM on Wednesday 29th of September. Afterwards we will have a Bible study. For this Bible Group we read and focus on the gospel of the day: John 1,47-51. If you have time, you can also read the Dei Verbum. You can find this text here: http://www.albertmagnus.org/texts/dei-verbum/
First meeting: Vesper and BBQ
Albert Magnus Catholic Student Group invites to the first meeting of the semester. We meet for Mass at 630PM in St.Olav Church. After Mass we will pray Vesper together, and then have a barbecue.
In order to prepare food, we need to know how many is attending. Send therefore a mail to post@albertmagnus.org if you are coming, preferably before Wednesday.
You can sign up for the Catholic Student Group’s mailing by sending an email to post@albertmagnus.org
About monastic life
The Cistercian nuns of Tautra Mariakloster have a new website for those who would like to know more about monastic life and for those who are wondering if they are called to monastic life. On this website you can also find a blog with reflections over Benedict’s rule and Church feast days. Check it out!
Last meeting – vesper and BBQ
We ended the first semester of 2010 with vesper and BBQ. It was a sunny day, even if it was a bit cold. Good food and nice company!
A short pilgrimage from Kongsvold to Oppdal
We were a group from the student group that walked on “Pilegrimsleden” (Pilgrim road) from Kongsvold to Oppdal the first weekend of June. Here you can read more about the short pilgrimage we had.
An unrecognized gift?
Sr. Anne Elizabeth from Tautra Mariakloster, just outside Trondheim, has written this article for Pentecost.
She writes:
The same Holy Spirit that was given to the apostles and to those women and men who first journeyed with Jesus is given to us. Do we truly know the gift that is ours?
(…)
The Spirit’s gift of patience and endurance can help us in those times when the going is rough, when hurts and wrongs rupture relationships, when misunderstandings seem to rule the day, when life asks more of us than we think we have the ability to manage. God does not leave us on our own; God does not expect us to do it alone.
In this article she wants to help us discover, recognizing and use the gift of the Holy Spirit.
